Jasper's Corruption Speculation

First I want to say that take this promo title with a grain of salt. It may not be correct. All of this will be speculation.

With that said, what do you think about this promo title? It means it's gonna focus on Jasper and her build up to her corruption (and maybe healing). What do you think this means? What do you think is gonna happen? Do you think she's fixable? Perhaps the first corrupted gem Steven can heal? How does this promo title make you feel?

I think this is gonna be Jasper's timeline:

Alone at Sea:

Steven gets another dream, and knows where she is

Garnet and Pearl refuse to help her, and leave her wherever she is (it has to be away from humans so maybe the island)

Amethyst rebels, and leaves the gems to go looking for Jasper

Steven follows her, and eventually they find her.

Steven VS Amethyst:

Amethyst finally is about to wake up Jasper, but Steven tells her not to and blows his cover,
they argue, fight it out (not harsh though) , etc.
Until Amethyst forces Steven to leave.

Crack the Whip:

They all go looking for Jasper and Amethyst but they're nowhere to be found

Kindergarten Kid:

Pearl/Garnet tell Steven how Rose found Amethyst and how she hates abandonment

Gem Hunt:

They finally track them down, shit happens
But as they fight it out Jasper gets corrupted

Tiger Philanthropist:

Amethyst tries to tame the corrupted Jasper, (who has taken on a tiger form)
but is left hanging because she either runs away or gets bubbled again.

Bubbled:

Amethyst bubbles Jasper, *end arc*

Ok, why do you think Amethyst would rebel to look for Jasper? Especially after all the hardship Jasper put them through? And why would Jasper be at sea when she fell into a fissure made by an earthquake, plummeting into the abyss.

Explain more because this seems...weird to me, I guess? Why wouldn't Steven want to wake Jasper right then but Amethyst would? Why would they argue? How would Amethyst get Steven of all people to leave?

More elaboration here because this seems very out of character so far for Amethyst.

I like this and it shines more light on Amethyst and her strange actions you've mentioned but it still seems a bit...off to me, how Amethyst has been.

Wouldn't Jasper already be corrupted upon finding her? To me, it doesn't make sense that they see her and she looks how she normally does and then randomly she turns into a corrupted form. What would happen in this time frame, do you think, to trigger this?

Who gets bubbled? Jasper? Isn't that the point you're getting at?

It's fine, I completely rushed that to be honest xD
What I was going for was the type of:

Ame: 'Guys, we can't just; leave her there! What if she like... escapes the island?!'
Garnet: 'Jasper is dangerous, Amethyst. We can't risk her causing us anymore trouble.'
Pearl: 'Yes, she's right. As long as she's... stranded we don't have to worry about her!'
Steven: 'Garnet, Pearl-- she needs my help! Her gem is cracked... what if she's really hurt?'
Garnet: 'I'm sorry Steven, like I said ; not everyone deserves your patience...'
Ame: 'You guys are so unfair! *Runs back to her room* '

The thing is, Amethyst can't stop thinking about how she was abandoned and alone;
Jasper makes her think of her past...

---etc
Also, they were at the edge of the island when the ground cracked, if one had to assume the fissure then completely separated the chunk of land the CGs were on and Jasper eventually found herself stranded on the island after getting washed up.

Also I was thinking of Amethyst trying to sympathise with Jasper but Jasper tries to make her go against her own friends.

I was thinking more along the lines of Amethyst suddenly leaves, and although Garnet and Pearl think she'll be back soon and refuse to let him search, Steven gets worried and disobeys them and goes looking alone.

What makes this difficult is the show has only been told from Steven's perspective which makes me wonder how they're gonna handle Amethyst and Jasper.

In my opinion it'd be odd if Amethyst and Jasper have a separate arc I mean they could make it fit really well.

I like it though - it's a good way to have a closer look at Amethyst and maybe even Jasper to an extent.

The only thing that I'm curious about is, would Garnet and Pearl rather leave Jasper stranded if she's cracked? They know that cracked gems can cause lots of problems, you know? Eventually, they'd have to fight and bubble Jasper.

There'd have to be something that fuels Amethyst's betrayal and mistrust.
That's the only thing I could think of really.

This is very interesting to read through xD Is it set in stone that Amethyst will be going through some kind of betrayal, or is that speculation as well? I don't want Amethyst to betray anyone, but it also sounds like an interesting thing to watch happen.

I've only watched through SU once so far, and I can't seem to remember a corruption happening before. Is this a new thing, or have I just completely forgotten something important? xD

We've discussed corruption but we haven't seen it happen (all the monsters they've fought are corrupted gems). We haven't seen the process of someone being whole and then going corrupted. I think the closest we might have had was with Lapis, with her gem cracked. She was probably half way there (hence a lot of her malicious acts) but Steven was able to heal her. This might be an opportunity to show us the process of corruption so we can get a clearer picture on what it is and what Rose was trying to do for these gems.

Haha I wrote a post on how everyone thinks Jasper will be corrupted because her gem is cracked...

...When we actually don't know how corruption happens in the first place. And if it happens due to negative emotions, this could actually be an interesting arc.

Though I'm terrified of Jasper actually getting corrupted and not getting screentime as Jasper Jasper, though I feel like if the show goes this way, they'll pull something interesting off. Given corrupted gems are not mindless or emotionless (Centipeedle!). I just hope we get more Jasper soon and if she does end up getting corrupted I hope the arc turns into something very interesting.

It's definitely going to be interesting. Jasper is too much of an important character to just let her fall to the wayside and be forgotten. She's gonna progress the story somehow. I just hope that whatever direction they go in, the conclusion of the journey will be satisfactory. I'm sure it will be though cause it's the Crewniverse.

Jasper might even be the first corrupted gem that Steven is able to save. And maybe that could lead to her redemption

I have a feeling Peridot will come into play when it comes time for Jasper to be dealt with. Cuz I mean, they didn't necessarily like each other but they worked together and spent a considerable amount of time around each other while traveling to Earth so there's s chance that Peridot could pity her. Peridot is learning about all sorts of emotions lately and adding pity to that on Jaspers behalf I think would fit the theme of the show. Peridot showing her pity might even be what spurs Steven to show her mercy, because let's be honest if anyone's going to forgive Jasper it's going to be our little Steven ❤️

Not to mention that if Jasper gets corrupted and Steven heals her, she'll feel indebted to him because I'm assuming gems don't like being corrupted. That would probably be a really good way to spur redemption which is why I'd actually be okay if they went this way.

Yeah I can't imagine being corrupted is much fun for Gems? O.o When Amythest got cracked she was all sorts of messed up.

It makes you wonder if being corrupted is painful for the gem? Or if it's more of a state of mind thing?

But can you imagine a redeemed Jasper being super grateful to little Steven? Carrying him around everywhere on her shoulders and telling him all her war stories xD
