SU 1x05 Frybo

"Steven brings a mascot costume to life with a magical Gem shard in order help his friend Peedee, but it backfires when the mascot goes rogue."

Hoo boy. Where to begin? I can say without a doubt that this is one of my least favourite episodes. It's creepy and I just overall do not like it Sick Strawberry

The thing is though, it's clearly an important episode that shows us what gem shards can do - that they have a consciousness and it makes us ask bigger questions.

It also shows us the importance of word choice - you must be precise, not vague, to get the results you want.

But overall, no I do not like this one Grrr Strawberry

I can appreciate the importance but I would rather not revisit this episode, lol. I mean, I felt it was a tad too dark even for kids. Then again, I don't know what they're showing kids these days in comparison.

I don't care for it either, it's what made my friend stop watching when I got her to watch SU.

Well that was an unfair attempt at Steven Universe. I mean there's only...3 episodes I can think of out of the whole 80 episodes where it's creepy and I didn't like it:

This one
Cat Fingers and
Keeping It Together

These are the three creepier ones and I'd even argue Keeping It Together was the worst one in terms of scare factor.

Ah well.

Personally I like the creepy episodes and their approach to them. They are pretty scary but somehow they are able to get a lesson or something light hearted out of it in the end (like the way Steven had to take off all his clothes to defeat the monster, i about died laughing with that part xD). I kinda like that they have these episodes. Kids don't need to be coddled. Creep the lil poops out. xD

But yeah ok so this episode creeped me out and made me laugh all at the same time and I really appreciate the Crewniverse for being able to pull that off. Probably my favorite part of the whole episode is when Steven sees his pants moving on their own and he just yells "THATS UNUSUAL!!!"
