Steven Universe 3/12 Restaurant Wars

What did you think of the first episode of week two of Summer of Steven?! I thought it was very cute and silly - it's always fun to have a lighthearted episode (or two) in the mix of Steven Universe.

We got to see the Frymans and the Pizzas again and we got to see a little more of the characters (like Ronaldo and his girlfriend WHAT?!). And yes, apparently the gems can cook. I would have hoped they could to some extent for Steven's sake

well, that was certainly an episode.

I'd give this one a 6/10, possibly a 5/10 if I'm not being generous. It wasn't bad in any way, but just felt really, really dumb. A harmless, fluffy dumb that I didn't really enjoy, but that I didn't really hate. Call it a Purgatory episode.

The anime references in this episode were really strong, and went way over my head because they seem to be referencing anime I've not heard of or watched. The fighting between the two families was both funny to watch and unpleasantly melodramatic. Ronaldo's scenes were entertaining, and his otaku girlfriend (his "Ono-hime-sama" I think) was fun to watch as well.

So I'll give this episodes a middle rating. Not my cuppa tea, but not terrible either.

Same, PQ. The episode was fun to watch and was fairly funny, but episodes like Rose's Scabbard, Jailbreak, or Mr. Greg raise the bar reallly high. Resturaunt Wars simply didn't have as much emotional impact or insightful information as most eps do.

One thing I did take away from this episode, though, is surprise. The gems can cook?? How? They never needed to cook before Steven! And Amethyst didn't even add motor oil this time!

Ok a few points:

- Ronaldo's heelies shoes
- Ronaldo and his girlfriend are so anime and I love it cuz I can relate xD
- Steven being an absolute CUTIE PIE through the whole episode like omg I just wanted to pinch his cheeks?!
- Kiki and Jenny sisterly love

This episode was just bursting with cute and funny and I thoroughly enjoyed it

Well tbf, not everything is going to be emotionally heavy like Rose's Scabbard, Mr Greg, etc. And that's ok. We've got more to come of course but it was still a cute watch. Generally I don't care for episodes with like Ronaldo and such (I mean I hate him tbh) but I thought this one was fun.

Can I just say that Pearl looked very dashing in her servers outfit? 

Also poor Ronaldo lol I hope his GF forgives him.

I (like most other fans it seems) definitely prefer episodes that focus on the gems and emotional stuff, but this might actually be my favorite out of the ones that focus on the people of Beach City. I don't know what it was about it but I thought it was really funny all the way through!

And yes, Pearl was so pretty.
