| Ah Steven. The cutie with the sweet face and the good heart. That sweet face. What do you think of this kid? I'll admit, when I first got into the show, I didn't like him. I found him to be more stupid and annoying than anything. But, once things started picking up and plot began to develop, his character significantly grew and now he is one of my favorite characters. He is the purest cinnamon roll (highly comparable to Usagi from Sailor Moon). |

Altho I am worried about his part of extended intro...his lines...about growing up and being everything everyone wants him to be...it's scary... This always brings me back to why I think Rose Quartz was someone very important and Steven is, well, more important. There'd be no story if Steven wasn't something special. And I mean beyond him just being a gem/human hybrid. Like, Rose had to be extremely important. Also, I really enjoy that Steven is the cartoon embodiment of all of us when it comes to fusions. He literally has the same reactions as we do: "You should fuse just because I wanna see" "Will you fuse NOW?! I wanna seeeeeeeee D:" (ok these are made up but it's the gist of what he's saying) "All I want to do is see you turn into a giant woman" "Fusion fusion fusion!" etc. etc. |

| I am hoping that Steven won't get too down on feeling like he needs to live up to his mama's name, although we've seen hints of it throughout. He's such a sweet marshmallow, and we have to protect this little guy xD I want to see him happy always.
I agree with Steven's insistence on fusions xD I want to see ALL the fusions too <3 |

| Steven is a really big inspiration to me. He inspires me to keep believing in everyone and not feel so negative about everything. He used to be silly, but although he still is sometimes it shows us how much characters can progress and develop over time! |

| To be honest, I didn't like Steven when I first started watching the series. He's grown on me, but he still is by no means my favourite character. |

| People either love or hate Steven in the first 26 episodes because of how a little kid he can be. He's in over his head in this fight against monsters and he doesn't develop any powers until episode 23. He also messes up. A lot. And he needs to be saved. A lot. People either love or hate this Steven. The people who hate him compare him to Clarence Wendell from the show Clarence who's also very childish but is in a more down to earth slice of life show where his mistakes don't threaten too many people.
Personally, I find Steven's childishness early on to be relatable because of how in over his head he is and how there's no way any normal human would know what to do in these situations. He's a person you can imagine other people seeing you as when you're new to something. |

| I was kind of meh towards him for pretty much the entire first season. It wasn't until he started to develop as a character that I really came to like him. |

| While I didn't hate Steven at first, I can say that I didn't like him very much; he sacrificed important missions to being silly, goofing around, and being immature. He didn't put much thought or effort into what he was doing and its consequences.
Once Cat Fingers came around, though, I fell in love with Steven. It was the first time we saw him have to suffer some personal consequence for his immaturity, and although I'm sad that he had to go through such a traumatic incident like that, he was defiantly changed for the better by the incident; in the very next episode, Bubble Buddies, he goes from messing up gem missions with his immaturity to literally saving a girl from a falling rock and attempting to keep her calm as he tries to find a way to control his powers.
Honestly, I just love Steven so much now. He makes mistakes, he doesn't quite know how to cope with certain problems, yet he tries his hardest and gives his heart out every chance he gets. Even though he's half gem, in terms of TV characters, Steven is the most human one I've ever seen |

I agree with you whole heartedly. It's very easy to relate to Steven and his understanding of being a Gem and I think that's cuz he's learning about the Gems at the same pace as the viewers are. So his reactions and emotions as he learns more and more are relatable because the audience for the most part is feeling the same thing. I think Rebecca made a wise decision in growing her main character along with the audience because it gives the viewers a sense of comraderie with the main character. Like "yeah I totally get what he's going through cause I would be feeling the same way!" Or "Wow that was a totally unexpected twist, I would have reacted the same way!" |
