http://orig10.deviantart.net/756b/f/2016/139/3/6/chrysocolla_and_the_claw_pirates__by_hohki-da32eoh.pngThe gang's got a nice ship, the stuff they steal lets them have nice things. I mean, they're a criminal organization that doesn't need to eat and thrives best in sterile environments. Do you expect it to be a mess?
The captain,
Chrysocolla, is the pale blue one with the malformed hands sitting and looking over the railing. Though her leadership is questioned occasionally, especially by outsiders, her positive outlook and convincing words, along with her kindness and fairness towards her crew, is what ultimately keeps her in charge. That and she's actually really good at what she does and the previous captain trusted her more than anyone else in the crew. Chrysocolla is very fast in wet conditions, and she can manipulate her voice to stun her foes and in some cases even shatter gems just by screaming at them. She doesn't do that often of course, it hurts her throat and she risks accidentally shattering herself when fighting other phyllosilicate gems. Her weapon is a cutlass.
Carnelian, the orange one with the hammer, is second in command. Why not first? It's a long tale of trust and betrayal which I will not tell yet. Carnelian is defective, lacking the warrior spirit of other quartzes and not being quite as strong as she should be. She dreams of one day having enough power to control many gem colonies, but for now she's just a pirate. Her abilities mostly consist of smashing her foes, and she can send a surge of energy through her hands to damage her opponents (though, oddly, it has a healing effect on organic life).
The grinning pearl with the tonfas is
Helmi. She's Carnelian's Pearl, though she is treated relatively well and is really good at fighting. I actually have a big tragic story planned out for her, but I won't tell it just yet. For now, she just helps Carnelian do illegal stuff.
The big green corrupted gem with all the spikes is
Tsavorite. Her story is long and tragic, involving her actually being tortured at some point in order to force her to become the monster she is today for military purposes. She's lucky to have escaped before
completely losing herself. As a part of this crew, her specialty is scaring the living crap out of people during raids and to break things like walls and locks with her horn. Her gem is in her right eye, and her left eye mimics the gemstone's shape and luster to confuse her foes. Her favorite food is solid aluminum with light oxidization on the surface.
The tiny gem next to Tsavorite is
Emery. Created on accident, Emery can be best described as a mutt. Her genetics appear to be a mix of different types of corundum gem programming, and her appearance is odd as a result. Her gemstone, which is internal and located within her chest mannequin piece, is an awkward mix of several different minerals, primarily corundum. She cannot summon a weapon and her ability to fuse is somewhat impaired, but she seems to possess some limited elemental powers, including manipulation of heat, wind, water, and earth. While she has eyes, she can't see through them and has to rely on touch and sound to get around.
The dark blue gem with one arm draped over the railing is
Larimar. She is actually Tsavorite's partner; before Tsavorite was corrupted, the two were very close and would often fuse, much to the distaste of other gems. When Tsavorite was taken away, Larimar had set out to find her but was devastated when she found that her partner had been transformed into a monster. She eventually joined the pirates because she wanted to avenge the corruption of her partner, and with hopes that maybe one day she would find a way to reverse the damage.
Anyway, these guys are part of a surprisingly influential criminal organization and they have nice things because they buy cool stuff with what they steal. There's a big long story which I
might write but ehh that'd take a while
