[Headcanon] Pygmy Gems

I saw this theory on tumblr, pitched by disgustedorite. It says:

So I was just thinking about how small the Geode Beetles of Heaven and Earth are (it isn’t just their form–their gemstones are tiny too!) and now I’m thinking about the idea of pygmy Gems

Basically, living healthy Gems so small that, in their default forms, they could fit in the palm of your hand

They’d probably be used for stuff like running wires through tight spaces, repairing machines too small for a larger Gem to get into, and transferring supplies to trapped Gems. They’d also make great spies, as their small size would make them harder to spot and catch. Gem criminals (like thieves and stuff) might also employ pygmy Gems to pick locks or get into buildings through tight spaces to unlock the doors from the inside.

Pygmy Gems would, in the show’s canon, likely only be counted as one Gem-type (and would probably have a uniform gemstone), but I really like the idea of there being pygmy variants of all Gem-types. Imagine a pygmy Quartz!

What are your thoughts on this? I think this is a very sound headcanon theory. It seems to fall in line with those teeny tiny gem beetles we've seen so far. They must have some purposes!

I would love to see something like this!! Omg I can just imagine teeny tiny gems and how adorable they would be! But this theory is very plausible and I love the idea that they're actually useful to Gem culture and not just like pets or something.

...I was also grouping them into pets as well.

This does make me wonder if Gems domesticated any creatures they may have found?
And yes, this all seems very logical! Is that why the Heaven Beetle had a mini house? It did seem a bit odd to me why a corrupted gem would act so human-like.

And both of the points you make Steven are great! If you think about it, Rose had her pet plants. Maybe she wasnt the only one who could make herself pets? It makes you wonder if Gems are the only race on Homeworld? O.o
