[Theory] Who is Lion?

Lion. So cute. So pink. So giant cat. Obviously Rose Quartz's. But who is he, exactly? Some people have guessed Rose Quartz herself. Some have guessed other ideas. One in particular is that Lion is an experiment of Rose Quartz's.

In some old "leaks" that resulted in someone being fired (legitimacy debatable), someone revealed that Lion is an experiment of Rose Quartz. I find this entirely plausible.

As Rose and the other gems are inorganic life and Rose desiring to have a human child, I'd say it's safe to say that Rose performed experiments to see to what extent organic life on Earth could handle gem DNA (which lends itself to another theory).

I think Lion is a cat (or lion) from Earth infused with gem powers, somehow, some way. Like experiment number one before Rose moved on to testing how gems would work with humans.

What are your thoughts?

I hope we learn more on Lion's origins soon. Like stated, he's obviously Rose Quartz's in some fashion but how? I like the "experimenting" idea a bit but then it seems odd that Rose, someone who cared deeply for Earth and its lifeforms, would want to do that sort of experimentation on its creatures?  Or maybe it was a result of something she was forced to do before she rebelled?

@Brit: Nah I don't think it's odd. She's a gem, not human. She even said to Greg that she's not a real person. I don't know if she'd have any concept of experimentation being harmful. Plus remember, she gave up her physical form for Steven. That's a huge, risky move that you don't take lightly. You should see what would happen with these life forms, especially when you will no longer physically exist.

I mean logically it makes sense.

I think she would experiment. Noticed what she said to garnet when they met again. Rose didn't say what garnet feels is more important or anything like it. She called it interesting. I think Rose wanted a new way for gem kind to reproduce and that wouldn't devour whole planets into shells like kinder gardens do.

While Rose Quartz seemed to like life, the fact that by the time she met Greg, she still seemed to have very little understanding of Human life despite being on the planet for thousands of years. Garnet and Amethyst have more of an understanding of them than Rose Quartz did and more respect and yet they are following her ideals. 

I'm honestly beginning to wonder due to the whole Lion is an experiment of Rose Quartz thing, that Rose isn't as nice of a Gem as we think she is. I think time will tell, but somethings going on here.

I think shadow over her eyes gives that away too. In anime it's a sign of somebody having dark secret or intentions or emotions charters go through. And we know she had a lot of secrets.

I think we saw Rose without shadow over her eyes only three times. On the photo with Greg, on her portrait and in few moments during song "what can I do for you". Rose probably had a lot on her conscience. And I'm sure more then few sins too. However there is an other red flag here. We once see Rose with here eyes hidden. Unlike with Sapphire for Rose covered eyes aren't part of her character design.



Look at Rose's body language and expression on her face. When you compare it to tops from anime or mange this type of positioning one character over other one isn't a good sign. It' rather a bad one suggesting not so nice intentions for other character in this case Steven.

So I think we will yet to se who Rose really was.

Yes it is. And Steven's line in this part is creepy too!

Noticed he do not want to grow to expectations of those around him. But to be what they want him to be. This is bad since as a person you less and less make choices on your own or that would be good for you and others around you. Sometimes what you want isn't what you need.

I think we're getting a bit off topic here, so if you wan to continue that discussion about the expectations that Steven feels and another thread on Rose, I'll be more than happy to join in. 

As for Lion, well, honestly for me, nothing else right now makes sense other than an experiment by Rose.

As we go back to topi. Anybody else is interested where is Lion now? Like we last saw him in same old world and one of promos for Barn mates is exactly the part where Steven looks for Lion and we haven't seen him since then

Maybe Rose gave Lion a secret mission and he's trying to fulfill it.

How she would do it now? She's dead for 14 years and crewerse said there is nothing left of her. All of her bing is now in Setven's DNA. No returning for this Rose to world of living.

She could have left instructions. I mean look at all the secrets were discovering; her armory, lion had the sword, that bubbled gem, a video. All planted for Steven find when he was older.

So you say we may have something extra from rose as Steven's legacy soon maybe?

Maybe. We're starting to get into more home world stuff.

You know, who's to say that he isn't a corrupted gem that isn't malicious? We've seen other corrupted gems take animal form. Perhaps he was one of Rose Experiments that went relatively well.

That is a possibility. It could be her only experiment that has worked so far so she tasked Lion with taking care of Steven when she was gone.

Ah there's that long lost episode I was looking for about Greg having a cat that could maybe now be Lion - Maximum Capacity.
