Ok so I'll be re-watching the episodes in 5s and then I'll come back to review and reflect on them here!

Episode 1: Gem Glow - Episode 5: Frybo

Ok so one thing that has become glaringly obvious to me is how much Steven has matured throughout the series. Like yeah I already knew that, but it's strange to see how immature and childish he really is at the beginning.

Cheeseburger Backpack is a good example. If they had gone to the Sea Spire in later episodes, Steven NEVER would have forgotten the little moon lady statue. It would have been his top priority because since he's been more active with the CGs, he's seen just what kind of ramifications come from his being irresponsible on missions. But then again, if he hadn't have forgotten and had not seen the consequence of watching the Sea Spire crumble, he wouldn't be as mature as he is in the later episodes. So it's a sort of double edged sword. I think the Crew does a really good job of showing that, just like life, immaturity and ignorance have it's consequences but those consequences make you learn from your mistakes and grow.

Also, Frybo is still as horrifying as it was the first time I watched it. Shocked

Episode 6: Cat Fingers - Episode 10: Steven's Lion

Connie!! We finally meet her and omg Steven and Connie are just adorable I can't even handle it Heart

Also is it just me or is it concerning how many times Steven gets into trouble because of circumstance? O.o The poor kid has bad things happen to him all the time! :x

And then there's Lion! I still have no theories as to what Lion could be. Like, I've read other people's theories, but none of them have stuck with me. I know he's got some kind of connection to Rose but idk what it is scratch

Also I've noticed that Garnet is opening up more. She was super stoic and didn't talk much at the beginning which doesn't really fit how she is now. I know that she's probably grown with the series too just as much as Steven, Pearl, and Amethyst, but it doesn't seem like character growth, it seems more like the Crew changed her into a more likeable character? Idk that's how it feels to me though.

Episode 11: Arcade Mania - Episode 15: Onion Trade

So in this batch was So Many Birthdays which I think is an interesting and harrowing episode. We find out that Steven can age his body according to his frame of mind.

Theoretically this could mean he would stay a child forever as long as he thought like one. But as we've seen throughout the show his state of mind is maturing. He's growing up and while we've seen his mind mature we haven't seen his body mature. I'm wondering if that's because he's still very young and naive about the world?

I wonder what will happen when he gets older. Most humans when they reach their older years they start to prepare for the end but what about Steven? If his age is based on his state of mind then does that mean he has to feel young forever just to live? Will Steven have to be the perpetual child-gem just in order to stay alive with his fellow gems? Or will something happen that reveals he won't age when he hits a certain point? It's a really strange thing to think about.

Also, the first Fusion, Opal! She's so pretty!  Heart

Episode 16: Steven the Sword Fighter - Episode 20: Coach Steven

Man this post is getting long! I'll prob start going 10 at a time now. :lol!:

So a lot happens in these 5 episodes. We see Pearl get poofed which has a lasting effect on Steven. I mean he saw Pearl get stabbed. Even if she came back good as new that's image will continue to be in his head for a while. I've noticed since that episode he's not quite as reckless as he used to be, and when he is reckless he usually has some sort of plan. I think seeing something horrible come from his recklessness, distracting Pearl from her sparring hologram, really made him grow up a little.

Then there's Rose's Room which I think is a bit of a creepy episode. Steven basically gets trapped in a copy of his town, and he doesn't realize it till right before he gets out. Meaning he didn't realize everything was fake, so he thought something was seriously wrong with all the people he cared about. That can do a lot of damage to a kid.

And then of course SUGILITE WHOOOO. Voiced by Nikki Minaj hell yeeeee

It's weird to think about the fact that Lion was introduced so early on yet we still don't know much about him! I'm so curious >-<

Also, yeah Steven really has matured so far! Can't wait to see how it's gonna be endgame.

You know, So Many Birthdays seems to contradict the episode of Steven's *actual* birthday. He wanted to be older but he couldn't make himself older...? But in So Many Birthdays, he was able to do it without thinking? scratch

I'm pretty sure So Many Birthdays still had to do with shape shifting but automatically based on his mental state. Why do I think it's shape shifting?

And after all that happened, I'm pretty sure Steven doesn't wanna mess with his state of mind, so instead he manually shapeshifts himself and slightly modifies his body.
