[SPOILERS] Steven Universe 3/05 Hit the Diamond [SPOILERS]

Same thing goes for this thread - please keep all discussion here on these prematurely aired episodes HERE until we are certain everyone has seen these episodes. If you have watched these episodes online, please still tune in and watch them on Cartoon Network when they air.

So this episode was another cute, cute episode that made me laugh quite a bit. I'm glad tbh France decided to air Barn Mates and Hit the Diamond together - it would/will suck to have these two episodes aired separately with how Barn Mates ended.

All of the Rubies were hysterical - even our own. She and Sapphire were literally zero help with getting rid of the Rubies. I also didn't expect them to say they were looking for Jasper :lol!: Peridot is long forgotten. Dead to Yellow Diamond I guess. This is definitely another favourite episode of mine. I love these cutesy fun episodes.

I will start out by saying that I spent most of this episode facepalming and smiling at the same time at Ruby and Sapphire's interactions.They spent so much time flirting with each other and not on the problem in front of them that I literally was telling my screen that I understood why they don't get sent on missions unfused.

The Rubies were interesting to watch,and of course dumb as bricks.Clearly finding Jasper,which I was surprised is who they were looking for,must not have been top priority if this group got sent.Does this mean Jasper is important for something or is it because she is atleast important enough not for YD to want her to get blown up by the Cluster?Doubtful YD knows her geoweapon has been put to rest for the time being.

And we get to see what Lapis brings to the team.She brings the snark.

I found amazing few things in this epsiodes.

1. Sapphire has LEGS!!!!
2. Home world Gems have much more individuality the I thought after "The Answer" episode where only difference between rubies was their gemstone placement.
3. It's possible  teams of same type gem,s in home world are based on similar state of mind? Or way of functioning?

The "Hit the Diamond" Rubies




"The Answer" Rubies seem more focused and concentrated and hands on with their mission. They are in unity practically.

While The "Hit the Diamond" Rubies are kinda...adorable dorks and rather chaotic group. But from military state of point they are dummies that will get job done but they won't  ever get too important job in case they fail...which after episode I say it may happen often with them. If not endlessly.

This episode is probably my new favourite non-feelsy episode! Like, I really feel like it's one of those episodes that you can just watch over and over again. I loved how Ruby and Sapphire couldn't focus on helping the CG's win and were too busy flirting with each other. I couldn't stop grinning about it, omg. All interactions were really good in this episode.

Also, I loved how each Ruby had a totally different personality. (makes me excited to see other groups made up of the same gem type, like a whole peri-squad or something.) My favourite's probably the happy/sassy ruby or the visor ruby. (i'm wondering what their fandom "mom" nicknames will be, lol) We'll definitely being seeing them again, I just know it. All of them are just too cute to appear in only one episode! <3

I wasn't expecting them to be looking for Jasper, though. She seems to be top-priority to YD all of a sudden. I'm guessing because she thinks that Jasper is to blame for Peridot rebelling or she believes that the communicator actually did kill Peri and she needs to know what happened with the mission? Not sure.

On a side note, did anyone else kinda-sorta-maybe get a Raven (from Teen Titans) vibe from Lapis?

OMG yes. She was so much like Riven. Not into thing they were doing but she still was there for the team. even if with minimum effort on her end XD

it kinda destroyed my headcannon :lol!: that home world was making sure there is no individuality under their rules. Like more gem is enslaved to rules and point of view of home world. You know. same way of thinking practically same looking form and outfits. Then with everyone bing almost one minded it's less possible there will be an other rebellion and easier to control...but I stand corrected. They have individual personalities, clothes, reactions and so on...but then again Rubies from 'the answer' were from Blue Diamond and those from 'hit the diamond' were from YD...so maybe there si different ways between diamonds of like handling things?

This was yet another hilarious episode. It had me laughing a lot just like Barn Mates. With the Rubies, what I find interesting is their personalities are all extremities of some kind so when they combine it kind of completes them? Its like that movie "Inside Out" (which i haven't seen actually :x) where each aspect of a persons emotions was represented by each of the different characters in the movie. So they group Rubies together by their personalities so that when they fuse, it makes a more complete and whole Gem?

Also, I agree with you Goldenevil, this episode did somewhat ruin my concept of homeworld too. I sort of felt like the gems on Earth were just the outcasts that are few and far inbetween hence why they have varying personalities but it seems even the grunt soldiers (Rubies) can have varying personalities too now...very different from the picture painted in "The Answer". I could see it maybe being that its cause of the different diamond thing OR its possible since that was so long ago, things on homeworld have been changing too? Or its just that those Rubies were a bit more trained and well behaved clones?

OR its like that one episode of Star Wars Clone Wars that I saw where there was this group of like outcast Clones that were all mess ups in some capacity while the rest of hte squads were more "normal" and stuff. ALL THE THEORIES! XD

Ah you must not have heard. France aired the episodes early. While that's fine and dandy and happens in the world, people in America latched on and watched them all. If you'd like to see them, just head on over to Dailymotion and search Steven Universe and the respective episode title

They are also up on kisscartoons.me which is where I ended up watching them since some of the daily motion links I found had been taken down.

I love hiw much Bob didn't care at all bout game but she did it for Steven... maybe?

Oh yah Bob totally did it for Steven.

I love how Lapis became her own gem who don't follow orders any more. That is kinda huge progress for her if you consider how fast Jasper use to be able do with her whatever and make Lapis too afraid to make her forget to use her element water where she would win against Jasper easily. She had a frigging ocean next too her bust soje was too afraid of punishment to put up a fight.

Buut now? She's standing her ground, voicing her opinions and she is not following orders. She may consider opinions of others -or just Steven - but she will be making her choices on her own.
